[ARCHIVED] Smoke Testing - Colony, West Mill, Oakview and Ford Roads

Smoke testing is a process whereby smoke is forced into the sanitary sewer system through manholes. Observations are then made of where the smoke exits. Typical exit points for the smoke are plumbing vent stake piping on roofs; however, it may also appear from catch basins, downspouts, or other external drains. The purpose of the testing is to find locations where storm water may be entering the sanitary sewer system.

The testing is part of the district's Sewer System Evaluation and Study (SSES) of local sewers that feed into their collection system.

Homeowners in the affected areas will receive notification via a door hanger prior to the testing. The testing is scheduled to take place beginning on Monday, Oct. 18, 2016, and is expected to take approximately one week to complete.

Questions may be directed to the contact phone number listed on the door hanger, or to the Highland Heights Service Dept. at (440) 461-7266.
