[ARCHIVED] Coronavirus Update

From the desk of Mayor Chuck Brunello, Jr.

In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, The City of Highland Heights will be taking precautionary measures and cancelling all scheduled, non-essential meetings until Tuesday, April 14. This decision was made to support Governor Mike DeWine’s efforts to minimize the impact of COVID-19 in the State of Ohio, and being mindful of the guidance of public health officials.

Primary Election voting will go forward at the Community Center as scheduled on Tuesday, March 17. Please note, this may change within a few hrs.

City Council will meet as planned on Tuesday, March 24 at 8 pm, but the following public meetings have been cancelled:
Park & Recreation
ARB
Civil Service
Planning & Zoning
Commission on Aging
Community Day
Economic Development
All non-essential Council committee meetings are cancelled as well, with the exception of the Legislative & Finance committee. They will only meet if necessary approval is needed for our daily operations to continue.

The Children’s Easter Party scheduled for Saturday, April 4 has been cancelled and all recreational programs are cancelled during this time as well. All Community Center activities will also be canceled at this time. We will refund any and all private events that were scheduled.

Highland Heights remains committed to the safety and well being of all of our residents, as well as the success of all of the businesses in our community. We are very fortunate to have so many great local bars and eating establishments. As of March 16, the Governor set a new directive that all bars and restaurants will only be able to offer carryout service. As you can image this will impact local businesses and their employees. Please continue to patronize all local restaurants/bars when possible.

As I have stated before, the safety of our residents remains a top priority for me and my staff, and I appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding during this difficult time. Our ability to work together remains strong, and we will do the very best we can to deliver the same exceptional service. Highland Heights will continue to work with local health officials, as this situation changes daily.

Visit cdc.gov, Coronavirus.ohio.gov, or ccbh.net for additional information. The State of Ohio has also set up a hotline at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (427-5634).

For specific concerns, contact my office at 440-461-2440 ext 145.

Be well,

Chuck Brunello, Jr.
